Professor Craig Valli (Director)

Professor Craig ValliCraig is currently Head of School and a Professor (Digital Forensics) within the School of Computer and Security Science.  Professor Valli has 20 years experience in the IT industry and consults to industry on network security and digital forensics issues.  He is the Chair and Founder of the Australian Digital Forensics Conference and Co-Chair of the Australian Information Security Management Conference. Craig is also a Co-Editor of the Journal of Information Warfare. He serves on numerous security related conference committees  and has over 60 publications to his name on security related topics.

Professor Tony Watson (Director, ACS Centre of Excellence)

Professor Tony WatsonProfessor Tony Watson is the Executive Dean for the Faculty of Computing, Health and Science, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) and Director of the ACS Centre of Excellence.  Professor Watson’s research interests include computer security, smart cards, smart tags, the Internet and Imaging systems.

Professor Narayana Srinivasan

Professor Nara SrinivasanNara is currently the Edith Cowan University Professor of Security and Risk. His research interest includes security business and management in the new post 911 environment. Professor Srinivasan has been responsible for forming a number of collaborative partnerships between Western Australian universities and international organisations, such as the International Civil Aviation Authority, USAID World Food Program, Asian Development Bank, World Bank and Singapore Airport Terminal Services. Previously Dean of Murdoch Business School and Head of Justice and Business Law at ECU, he is a member of various international and national organisations involved in corporate governance, anti-corruption and security.

Professor Murray Lampard

Professor Murray Lampard Murray was appointed a Professor (part time) at ECU in August 2008, post his retirement as the Deputy Police Commissioner for the Western Australia Police.  Murray provides the strategic interface between the University and their strategic partners, specifically in the public safety sector. Additional duties include marketing the Centre externally and within ECU, developing research and business opportunities, providing strategic advice, mentoring and professional development to academic staff members and students.

Dr David Brooks

Dr David BrooksDave is a senior lecturer within the School of Computer and Security Science, teaching and researching topics within the broad domain of Security Science. Dave’s research interests include psychometric concept mapping of expert knowledge structure, such as security risk managers and security body of knowledge. In addition, the uses of psychometric risk theory to measure social security risks. He has published, presented and taught in his areas of specialisation in many parts of the world, with his most recent book titled “Key concepts in Security Risk Management”, which followed a previous book titled ”Public Street CCTV: A psychometric study on the perceived social risk”.

Dr Patricia Williams

Dr Trish WilliamsTrish is a senior lecturer in the School of Computer and Security Science and is internationally recognised as an expert in medical information security. Her reputation has been built up over 25 years in the medical health computing arena with 15 years industry experience in General Practice and Pharmacy computing prior to joining academia in 2001. Trish has been the editor of the Journal of Information Warfare. Her publication record is the area of medical information security with over 45 publications. Trish has been the Associate Editor and Track Chair of the medical information security track of the World Congress in Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Applied Computing. She has collaborated with Royal Holloway University, University of Plymouth and the prestigious St George’s Hospital.

Dr Andrew Woodward

Dr Andrew WoodwardAndrew performs research and teaching in the areas of computer and network security, wireless and mobile device security and digital forensics. He is currently the discipline coordintaor for Security in the School. His current main research areas are critical infrastructure protection, and digital forensics. Current projects include the investigation of hard drive erasure and erasure tools, development of national competency standards for digital forensic practitioners, aiding in the development of the SIMPLE tool, assist in the recovery of stolen laptops/computers.  Other research interests include grid computing, digital forensics (BitTorrent forensics), wireless device and network security, and the security of RFID tags.

Dr Anne Aly

Dr Anne AlyAnne Aly is a Senior Lecturer and researcher. Anne has published internationally in the areas of terrorism, terrorism history, the fear of terrorism and security and radicalisation models. She has been invited to address national conferences and personnel on a range of issues involving the threat of terrorism particularly home-grown terrorism and radicalisation of Australian Muslims. She is the author of a soon to be published book on the fear of terrorism and has contributed chapters to books on the history of terrorism and on responses to the war on terror. Her research interests include the use of online and mobile technologies to influence and indoctrinate, people movement and national security threats and social implications of security.

Dr Geoff Swan

Mr Jeff Corkill

Jeff CorkillJeff is a lecturer in Security Science and served in the Australian Army for 20 years as an officer in the Australian Intelligence Corps specialising in the areas of counterintelligence and security. His post military career has included appointments as; the Ashton Mining Security Manager, the Security Intelligence Specialist at Argyle Diamonds and international consulting. He is active in the Australian Institute of Professional Intelligence Officers, the Risk Management Institute of Australasia and the American Society Industrial Security. Jeff’s research interests include: CCTV human factors, intelligence evaluation and the intelligence, security and risk intersection.

Mr Peter Hannay

Peter Hannay

Peter Hannay is currently undertaking PhD level research at Edith Cowan University, following the completion of a double major in software engineering and computer security and a first class honours in computer security. His honours research is focused on the acquisition and analysis of historical data from GPS units. In addition to this he is active in the development of the SImPLE (Simple Image Preview Live Environment) and LIARS (Laptop Inspector and Recovery System) projects within the research group.

Mr Patryk Szewczyk

Patryk SzewczykPatryk Szewczyk is currently a lecturer within the School of Computer and Security Science. He is also undertaking PhD research in Computer Science in the field of ADSL Router forensics.

Mr Christopher Bolan

Christopher BolanChris is currently a Lecturer (Computer Security and Forensics) within the School of Computer and Information Science. He is on the organising committees of several conferences including the Australian Digital Forensics Conference and the Australian Information Security Management as well as the editorial panel of the Journal of Information Warfare.
